It was announced today that Colin Kaepernick has teamed up Ava DuVernay and Michael Starrbury to create a limited series about his life for Netflix.

Hot 104.1 Listen Live

According to The Variety, the series will be called “Colin in Black and White” and will focus on Colin’s early years as a black child adopted by a white family as well as what led him (Colin) to become the civil rights activist he is today.

“Too often we see race and Black stories portrayed through a white lens. We seek to give new perspective to the differing realities that Black people face. We explore the racial conflicts I faced as an adopted Black man in a white community, during my high school years. It’s an honor to bring these stories to life in collaboration with Ava for the world to see.”

Colin Kaepernick attended the University of Nevada – Reno until he was drafted by San Francisco 49ers in 2011 as the 36th pick of the NFL Draft. Although he led the 49ers to a Superbowl in 2012 it was his stand against police brutality in 2016 that made him the talk of the nation. After 6 years in the league, Colin was never signed after that year causing many to believe he was blackballed out if the league.

Today the 32-year-old has his Know Your Rights Campaign that focuses on the youth and raises awareness on self-empowerment and interacting with the police.  The best part of his journey is that through it all, Colin has still been able to keep his endorsement with Nike. Thus, allowing him to spread his message and vision across the world.

The last time Ava DuVernay and Michael Starrbury worked together was on the Netflix series “When They See Us,” so hopefully this series will be just as good!

Netflix has not given this project a release date as of yet. Check back soon for the trailer!
