Episodes 3 & 4 of the 10 Part series called “The Last Dance” premiered last night on ESPN and ESPN+. Episode 3 specifically focuses on the relationship with Dennis Rodman and the Bulls. This could be considered as a partial follow up to the last documentary on Rodman on ESPN called “Rodman: For Better or Worse”. All in all we learn that at the time the Chicago Bulls initially didn’t want to pursue Rodman due to his behavior and reputation from the Pistons and Spurs. Ironically, he was also one of Michael Jordan’s fiercest opponents and threats when he was a member of the Detroit Pistons, affectionately known as “The Bad Boy”. The group included teammates such as Isaiah Thomas and Bill Laimbeer who created the “JORDAN RULES”, all of which were designed to hurt Jordan whenever he got the rock. This instead lead to their own downfall as Mike went to the gym, added muscle, and over took them in the 1991 conference finals, on their way to the first franchise championship for the Bulls. Upon his arrival to the Bulls for the second 3-Peat, Dennis was in the sphere of expression and free living; the crazy infectious hair styles, piercings, and partying that would’ve have been the death of any other athlete but it turns out was a MUCH needed release for one of the greatest, perhaps the greatest, defensive player of all time.
I was born in 1990 and unfortunately wasn’t able to witness Michael Jordan’s first championship run but I was aware of the second and I remember thinking Dennis Rodman was so dope! What did you think of Episode 3 of “The Last Dance”?
