There have been 174 homicides so far in St. Louis in 2018. The police chief John Hayden recently held a town hall meeting at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park to discuss crime and the city’s progress towards reducing it.
In many cases, crime is a direct result of people reacting to their poverty stricken situation. Crime tends to be higher in poor neighborhoods. Both youth and adults with idle time on their hands also are more likely to break the law.
Hopefully, this town hall meeting will include solutions such as employment, job training skills, and homelessness to help provide our citizens a way out of poverty.
