This week for our Top 5 Throwback Hits we’re jumping back to August 30, 2003. When The Source was an actual magazine, it was cool to wear a 3XL when you actually wore a medium and Justin Timberlake was black (he definitely secured his lifetime pass during this time).

Kicking off the Top 5 Throwback Hits according to Billboard’s Top Hip-Hop/R&B Songs Chart is:

Ginuwine: As a child Ginuwine was one of those artist that made music that was made for screaming, I mean singing, at the top of your lungs. I can still picture my 10 year old self singing “So Anxious.” So you know when “In Those Jeans” came out you couldn’t tell the teenage me NOTHIN’!

Here is Ginuwine (more like GinuFINE) with the #5 song… In Those Jeans

Chingy: If you’re from St. Louis then this next artist is definitely your COUSIN because everybody who blows up from St. Louis is related to the entire city (don’t trip it’s a St. Louis thing). I remember when this song dropped we had Nino Pop/ Mono dance challenges and Bow Wow had people teaching him this dance on the Scream Tour. LIFE WAS LIT!

Here is our cousin Chingy with the #4 song… Right Thurr

Lil Jon and The East Boyz ft Ying Yang Twins: What can I say about these next artists??? Let me start off by saying I bet Lil Jon just woke up on 10 everyday! And the parody songs they created off this song use to have me hollerin’! Low key my favorite Ying Yang Twins song ever was the Whisper song. Wait to you see… this throwback video!

Here is Lil Jon and The Eastside Boyz ft the Ying Yang Twins with the #3 song… Get Low

50 Cent: Who would have thought that 50 Cent would have become Kanan 15 years later on Power?! Not me! I still love Ja Rule but 50 Cent is definitely a talented individual. “Get Rich or Die Tryin” is still one of my favorite movies/soundtracks and I will always be a window shopper but not because i’m broke (ok, yes it is but i’m trying to build my net worth).

Here is 50 Cent with the #2 song… P.I.M.P.

Pharrell ft Jay-Z: This video has so many gems in it. If you look closely you’ll see a young New New aka Lauren London, Billionaire Boys Club clothing before the high price tags and a clean cut Jay-Z. I personally didn’t get into my Jay-Z phase until after seeing this video a thousand times. Finally, I still play this song when I need a little pick me up.

Here is the ageless Pharrell ft Jay-Z with the #1 song from August 30, 2003 with… Frontin

Songs on the bubble: Into You – Fabolous ft Tamia or Ashanti, Shake Ya Tailfeather –  Nelly ft Murphy Lee and Diddy, So Gone – Monica, Crazy in Love – Beyonce, and Come Over – Aaliyah
