Early July, 10 African American Washington University were profiled while leaving an IHOP in Clayton by the Clayton Police Department.
IHOP reported four African American men had done a dine and dash on at $62 bill.
Now being that dining while black is a crime, police sought out the black students leaving IHOP unfortunately around the same time the dine and dash was reported and demanded THEY go back and pay.
All along this ended up being another case of racial profiling being the students weren’t the actual suspects.
What did the police do?
Well now, Clayton’s police chief says his department is reviewing why its officers apparently confused four suspected dine-and-dashers with ten black Washington University freshman — and it’s raising some familiar and uncomfortable questions for the department.
