To qualify for the HoF, you had to have released your first album at least 25 years ago. LL’s Radio came out in 1985, so he more than qualifies there – in fact, this is his fourth nomination. Over the following years, he released a string of platinum albums and became the first poster boy for Def Jam Records. And that’s not even taking into account his massive acting career.

If you’re under the age of 20, you could be excused for not knowing just how huge LL Cool J was back in the late ‘80s and ‘90s, but it’s really no surprise to the rest of us that the MC is being honored by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with a 2018 Nomination. See the full list of nominees below.
