As police sort through the details of the worst mass murder in modern US history with at least 50 people dead and more than 400 hurt in Las Vegas, it is a sad reminder of america’s history of mass shootings.
In June 2016, 49 people were killed and 58 injured at the Pulse nightclub in what police later called a terrorist attack and hate crime at the gay nightclub. The shooter died when police cornered and killed him.
A mass shooting at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia in April 2007 left 32 dead and 23 injured including students and faculty. The gunman was a student who was later identified as having mental illness.
The horrific Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown, Connecticut in December 2012 left 26 killed at the school, including shooting 20 children between six and seven years old, plus 1 other off site, and injuring 2. The shooter killed himself at the scene.
And the December 2015 San Bernardino, California attack left 14 dead and 22 injured after husband and wife terrorists opened fire and attempted bombing at the Inland Regional Center. The shooters were later killed by police after Officers pursued the couple in their getaway SUV. An FBI investigation found that the shooters were inspired by islamic terrorists.
