Imagine having an old watch for 55 years for just over $100 to learn today it’s worth a small fortune.
The U.S. Veteran who took his keepsake to The Antique Roadshow to have his “dress watch” apraised.
What he didn’t know is that this watch is actually one of Rolex’s first models. In April 1960 he spent $120– just over a month’s military salary at the time, on the luxury fashion item. If he’d just brough the watch alone it is worth $35,000 – $45,000 but because he kept the box, the paperwork and original hangtag, it’s value is boosted to $65-$75,000 in today’s market!
