It’s been years in the making, but Inglewood rapper Casey Veggies‘ debut album Live & Grow has finally arrived.

Long before he released seven mixtapes, Casey Veggies (born Casey Jones) was honing his skills as a rapper in a hip-hop collective you may know: Odd Future. Eventually, Casey decided to cut ties with the collective, but maintained his friendship with frontman Tyler, the Creator, who’s also featured on Live & Grow.

GlobalGrind began following the “Tied Up” rapper back in June when he opened up his father’s Inglewood, California home to our camera crew. Casey spoke about becoming a man and his father’s influence, the struggles of being a small business owner, and anxiousness surrounding the release of his debut album.

Fast forward a few weeks, we linked back up with Casey in New York City, where he was filming the “Veggie Stoop” video in Harlem, New York. For those who grew up in NYC, the stoop is the most sacred spot on the block. It’s a place where friends can sit down and chop it up about life and culture. On the eve of his debut album, Live & Grow, national apparel and footwear retailer Footaction welcomed West Coast rapper Casey Veggies to the East Coast for a straight talk about what’s important in his life as he continues to develop his style, behind the mic and on the streets.

Live & Grow, which features guest appearances by Ty Dolla $ign, YG, Iamsu!, Hit-Boy, Tyler, the Creator, DeJ Loaf, and so many more is available in stores now.
