Raven-Symoné  has once again sparked a discussion over how some Blacks perceive themselves in society. Black Twitter and the media couldn’t stop talking about the Empire star’s declaration that she “wasn’t African American,” as well as the on-air blunder she made when she claimed to E! News that she was from “every continent” in Africa and Europe.  But when Raven’s comments came under fire from one particular Twitter user, fellow actor Isaiah Washington opted to co-sign her thought process and speak out about his perception of his own race. The former Grey’s Anatomy star brazenly claimed he is “no black.”

The comment followed Ferguson, Mo protester DeRay McKesson’s angry tweets directed at Raven, publicly chiding her earlier remarks.  McKesson tweeted:

Washington quickly weighed in on McKesson’s comments:

Very interesting. While Washington is right, you can’t get a travelling visa to visit, “black,” you sure can get stopped by the police for being one. Soon McKesson and Washington, who stars on The CW series, The 100, had an interesting conversation on identifying as Black in America. Check out some of the tweets below.
