_WTH IS Cool Flyer

“#WTHISCOOL” What is COOL? The 100 Black Men of St. Louis, the Emerging 100, Vashon High School and the Collegiate 100 are collaborating to associate a whole new dimension to the meaning of “COOL”. This comes to the fore with the inaugural hosting of the “Choices Of an Opportune Lifestyle” Youth Summit on May 10, 2014 at the Vashon High School. The event is geared towards intervening positively in the lives of middle and high school students at an age at which they are most susceptible to external influences, that being ages 11 to 18. Empowering and educating these young charges on realistic choices that will positively impact them and lead to eventual success is part of the multi-faceted approach that the organizers have planned. The content of the summit is based around the pillars of the 100 Black Men Organization. The four pillars are Education, Financial Responsibility, Mentoring and Health and Wellness. Organizer Leon Williamson related, “Our goal is to display a lifestyle affected by positive choices in an effort to show more than tell, the secret behind success. This is an event based on the power of choice, designed to help our youth plan and attain an opportunistic lifestyle.” A series of seven powerful workshops will be available for the attendees to choose four from. Each workshop will be based on the aforementioned pillars and will be facilitated by community business men, politicians, educators, pastors, and entertainers, all of whom will have their own method of imparting knowledge based on their unique experiences. The event starts at 9am with registration and ends at 2pm. Below is a timetable of the planned activities: TIME LINE : 8:30 am to 9:30 am Registration 9:30 am to 10:00 am General Session/Opening Rally 10:00 am to 10:35 am Breakout 1 10:35 am to 11:10 pm Breakout 2 11:15 am to 12:15 pm Lunch/Fashion Show 12:15 pm to 12:50 pm Breakout 3 12:50 pm to 1:30 pm Breakout 4 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm Closing Session/Wrap Up
