A Firefighter is subdued after making a heroic act.

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – A St. Louis firefighter is rushed to the hospital after he was hurt during a call.  He was inside a home that had caught fire when part of the house collapsed- trapping him in debris.

The injured firefighter was taken to SLU hospital where fortunately has was treated and released.

We’re told he basically suffered some bumps and bruises.

Crews got the call for the fire about 2:35am Friday morning at a vacant home on Bessie near Newstead.

When firefighters arrived, the back of the vacant house was burning and the fire had spread to a second occupied home next door.

Crews got the fire knocked down but while they were in clean up mode, the back third of the vacant home collapsed, the second floor falling into the first floor!

Investigators say the firefighter who was hurt was on the second floor…
